Community Involvement

Here are some of the groups that I’ve been involved with professionally over the years.

ASP - The Association of Support Professionals. Been a judge for the ‘Best web support’ awards for a number of years.

Consortium for Service Innovation - Non-profit ‘Think Tank’ for the Services industry. Work closely with them on a number of initiatives.

The First Wednesday Group — Invitation only executive roundtable for senior service & support executives. One of the three producers of the group.

GEPS - The Global Enterprise Product Support Forum (India based). Advisor to the forum.

HDI - Formerly the Help Desk Institute. Past chairperson of their Strategic Advisory Board.

MITCIO Sloan Symposium- On organizing committee; ‘panel captain’ for the CIO Keynote panel and judge for the MIT CIO of the year award.

SSPA - Software & Support Professionals Association. Been on various committees.

SRII - The Service Research and Innovation Initiative

TiE-Boston - The Association of Indus Entrepreneurs

Phil Verghis’ Help Desk FAQ - A resource I started in 1993 that still has useful information, though not updated at the moment. It is a nostalgia trip, since it predated http (started as FTP, then on gopher!).


    Phil is very well connected in the support community and is someone that I look to as a trusted advisor. During his tenure as chairman of our Strategic Advisory Board he has focused the board on visioning the future and helping the board provide guidance to practitioners, as well as technology and service provider.
